Today I finished an absolutely fascinating book. I was discussing the economic woes of our country with some friends who told me about a historical account of signs and events that demonstrate that we are in danger of economic collapse soon. I was intrigued, ordered a digital audio copy of the book and started listening.
The book was fascinating and I listened all day, neglecting my writing. I cleaned the refrigerator, organized the pantry, scrubbed the blinds, folded laundry, cleaned out cupboards … any excuse I could find to continue listening to it on our kitchen computer. I kept asking myself if it were really possible that all of the events surrounding 911, including all of the economic troubles, were a warning judgement from God. I still need to research the facts, but the message is profound.
It is one of those books that really make you stop and evaluate your life and the path that you are on. The book that caused me to abandon my writing and deeply ponder my life? It was The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future by Jonathan Cahn.
Jonathan and I work hard to help our community prepare. We teach classes on emergency water disinfection, powerless cooking, survival kits, and a host of other skills for emergency preparedness. I wonder if we are neglecting the most important aspect of preparedness; faith, love, obedience and spiritual preparedness.
Mr. Cahn’s book was filled with profound quotes such as these:
“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.”
“If America upholds God’s eternal standards and follows His unchanging ways, then it will be blessed with His favor…His protection…His prosperity….But if America should depart from the ways of God, if it should disregard His eternal standards, then the smiles of heaven, the blessings of God, will be withdrawn-its prosperity, its protection, and its powers would be taken away. He’s giving a warning to the nation: The day America turns away from God will be the day that begins the removing of its blessings.”
“That which God designs, in smiting us, is to turn us to himself and to set us a seeking him; and, if this point be not gained by lesser judgments, greater may be expected…”
“On 9/11 people were asking, ‘Where was God?’” “Where was God?” he said, as if surprised by the question. “We drove Him out of our schools, out of our government, out of our media, out of our culture, out of our public square. We drove Him out of our national life, and then we ask, ‘Where is God?”
“A nation is turning away from God. Its hedge of protection has been removed. Why? To cause them to turn back, to wake up, to save them from a greater judgment. And what are they doing in light of it? Or rather, what are they not doing? They’re not returning to God? Exactly. Instead of listening to the alarm, instead of turning back, instead of even pausing for a moment to reexamine their ways, they boast their resolve. It wasn’t about rebuilding at all. It was about ignoring the warning and rejecting the call to return. So they missed their warning. They did more than just miss it. The defied it. Notice the words. They weren’t vowing just to rebuild what was destroyed, but to make themselves stronger than before, to become invulnerable to any future attack. So what they’re saying is this: We will not be humbled. We will not search our ways or consider the possibility that something could be wrong.”
“And at any moment it all ends with a heartbeat…just one heartbeat, and there’s no more time. One heartbeat and the chance to be saved is gone. One heartbeat and there’s no more choosing—it’s all sealed for eternal life or eternal death.” “But if I didn’t choose…” “Then you already have. If you don’t choose to be saved, then you’ve chosen not to be saved.”
In all of your prepping, are you preparing to meet God? We prepare for a myriad of possible dangerous events. Are you preparing for the only event that is an absolute certainty? The most valuable resource you have in your survival kit is faith. Faith that God will direct your paths and provide as you follow His divine direction. Your most valuable skill; obedience. Learning to be obedient to God’s laws in spite of what others say and do.
I challenge you to evaluate your life and get right with God. If Jonathan Cahn is correct, that just might save America from certain destruction.
