This worksheet is designed to help readers develop an effective water disinfection and purification action plan using the information provided in Chapter 8 (Water Disinfection and Purification) of The Provident Prepper – A Common Sense Guide to Preparing for Emergencies.

Stored water is your best bet for safe drinking water. Eventually, you may run out of your stored supplies, or find yourself without safe drinking water. We have discussed a variety of options for water disinfection and purification. Remember, you will want to plan for a way to kill the tiny viruses which some filters cannot remove. You also need a way to filter out the protozoa which are not deactivated by some methods of chemical disinfection, as well as remove chemical contaminants.

Know the limitations of your filter(s) and plan accordingly. Do not risk acquiring a waterborne illness. How much water will your filter clean? A hundred, a thousand, or a million gallons? What are your water needs?
